Our Wirtshaus zur Glocke

Our Wirtshaus zur Glocke has a long tradition and is an institution in Trier. “Die Glocke” has been a pub since 1803 and treats you, among other things, with original local dishes prepared exclusively with fresh and regional products!

Our Wirtshaus zur Glocke is an institution in Trier. It’s been a pub already since 1803, and up until 1906 it was called “Zur wilden Gans”. At the latest since the times of the legendary host “Glocken-Jupp” in the 1970s the pub has an iconic character. It is a popular destination for regular visitors, students, families with children, locals, and tourists. We have extended the traditional guestrooms of the Glocke by the historical cellar and the “Viez-Stuff”. Among other things, we spoil you with original local dishes, which are prepared exclusively with fresh and regional products!

In addition to the popular standard menu, we offer you seasonally inspired specialties as well as weekly changing special recommendations. Check out our selection of vegetarian dishes as well.

Our historical cellar vault

The foundation walls of our historical cellar vault date back to the fortification of the Cathedral in the 10th century. Some large-size stone blocks can still be seen in the cellar today. They indicate a preceding building which is not dated. The earliest known building is a massive residential building with a spacious cellar vault dating back to the late Middle Ages. The cellar has a groined vault and was possibly used for wine trading back in the days. Today, you can enjoy the regional specialties and a glass of wine from our wide selection in this historical ambiance.
